Homeless for the first time, Syri and her two daughters have been living in various shelters for two months. "I didn't know what to do, what resources, I mean I knew nothing, it was so scary — I just had to sit there for an entire day before I could take a step to do anything, because my mind couldn't grasp that I couldn't provide for my family." According to Family Promise, there is no city or county anywhere in the United States where a worker making the minimum wage can afford a fair market rate one-bedroom apartment.
